    Thanks for putting this information together. The reason why I landed on your page is because I’m currently doing some research on the “spin control”. The problem that I’m seeing with this control is that it’s name seems to be different depending on who you talk to. This is precisely the research effort I’m working on.

    I’ll be posting an article in the next day or two revolving on the name used to refer to this ui element. I hope you come check it out @ http://uxfindings.blogspot.com.

    Our culture has a way of re-christening things. In this case, what once was well known as “spin control” has migrated to (pre-finish of my research) “spinner”.

    Mr. Andersen,
    Thank you for your easy-to-follow explanations on spin controls. I was translating a document that references spin controls, and could not imagine what they are and how they work in the GUI dialogs, Apple or Windows environments. Now, I know clearly.
